this week

Greetings, Nice weather for an Easter and Praise God no earthquake.  As  you know last Easter the earth opened up and shook the region. So far so good!  I have been cooking up a storm this week and I must say I have done very well. I have attached a picture of a pot roast that I did, when we had a bunch of appointments and no time.  Marty's rehab is going well as we know, she still misses days and dates , can't remember somethings and forgets what she says sometimes.  We have been taking rides, going around places she should remember.  It helps it reconnect the brain.
We went to Lowe's to get our free tree also spent $48.00 on things we needed.  Our trees needed to be planted in a pot so Marty did that.  I bought another rose bush but cherry color this time and some trellises for the older bushes.  It has been so windy that I have been waiting to set them up.  Looking at the yard we will need to get someone to fix our east wall.  The cracks are getting worse and  the gaps are getting bigger.
Today we took  the dogs to the dog park.  Poor Brass is getting so old she had a hard time climbing up the sides of the hills.  But they enjoyed being off the leash and it was nice .  By the time we got home it was way above 90F so we turned on the air to cool the dogs and Marty down.  This week it is supposed to be warm above 100F some days, but the nights have been cool, in the 60's.
My leg has finally healed , it just seemed it  wanted to take it's time.  I am watching it though because the skin is thin and if I bump something too hard it might open again. Now to fix supper and get ready to clean house this week.

Rehab starts

Waiting for summer to get here. That's  the day the cold water becomes hot enough to shower with . I sent along another of the rose pictures, Just in case you needed to see some color.  I know snow just keeps coming down.
As for how things are going, some days better than others and when tired worse than ever.  Started rehab this week but still  sometimes cannot get out of bed, car or chairs.  I'll be fine as long as my back holds up I should be OK, I feel this is like having a baby around , you have to get everything done while they are asleep.  We will live, but not everything doesn't get done.  We finally got a visit from the home health nurse on Saturday, she wanted to know why we hadn't had a visit from them already. I laid out to her how we had been left on our own to do all the arranging for services.  The more I learn about how it should have gone the madder I am.  I spoke with the neurologist about it again this week but I still feel cheated of the proper care by the hospital care managers. Enough!
Saturday we went to the Park steak fry, had a really nice time. After 4 years  I swear we are still the youngest people here. Our neighbor Jack just had a birthday Friday, he's 84 and doesn't look a day over 70. Lots of people there and lots of good food, most everyone there will be here all summer.

this week

This has been a heck of a week. last Sunday I took Marty back in as she was having another stroke.  They did a CAT scan and decided to keep her.  Monday they ran some tests , deciding to run an MRI which they did on Tuesday.  I was told they would be keeping  her till Wednesday.  At 6PM they sent her home with me, I had already canceled our rehab appointment and needed to reschedule every other appointment.  So I ran around town and got things set up.  Friday we saw the neurologist, she set up visits from home health and sent the prescriptions to the rehab.  Talked with us about how long it may take to recover.  She says to expect it to take six months before we know how much damage really took place and to have recovered from it.  Saturday, I swept and mopped the floors and Sunday filled the dishwasher and hand washed the pots and pans. After poop patrol ,I picked roses.  We are going to have a bunch of flowers next week.  Well, enough of my boring you, I want to thank everyone for their prayers and gifts.  Please continue to pray, as we need them.

Adventure in health

Since we last wrote I have had an adventure I didn't want to have.  I came home on the 15Th after having the cardiologist change one medicine and the Pulmonologist change 2.  No big results but I was trying to speed up my exercise program and get some weight off.  Once I got home I dropped 20 lbs in 4 days.
The night of the 20Th Marty and I were poking around on our computers and I went to change the laundry.  I heard her fall out of her chair.  I rushed in when she didn't answer me and found her on the floor, she kept trying to get up but couldn't move her left side.  She had face droop and so I proped her up and called 911.  She was having a stroke!  After we got to the ER she was unable to move her left side at all and could not see past her right midline.  They gave her a clot busting drug(TPA) by the time she was put in intensive care she was starting to move her left foot.  Slowly day by day she improved and on the 28Th she came home, things are going well. We have an appointment on the 6th to set up rehab for her.  She is with it most of the time but has forgotten some things like passwords and pin numbers.  She doesn't remember most of them and has not written them down anywhere.  She has a little weakness on the left and sleeps alot. Otherwise she is working on the computer, writing face book and emails.
I had to replace the battery in the PT cruiser, only two years old but it is the desert and the heat gets to things here. I had  to call the auto club to jump me then took it to the garage. Then I had to clean up the Mercury as to take it. The dogs got real excited when I hosed off the Mercury as it is the car we take them in when we go places with them. They were jumping up and down and running in circles.  They were disappointed when I left without them.
Another great day was here on Wednesday and Thursday the  temperature reached over 100F.  Of course it was the start of the county fair and spring break here and all the kids were either at the fair or hanging around the house. I had to turn on the A/C, with Marty home all day long there will be no oldies sweating here. I have been battling a wound on my left leg and with to see my GP, He doesn't do wound care so he sent me back to the VA to go to the wound clinic they have there. Have been spending a lot more time cooking (it  is surprising how much one extra meal a day adds up.) trying to clean and take care of both  of us.  We have been to the pool only twice this  week because Marty gets so tired. I worked on the trikes and rode mine around a bite twice this week.Just got back in from Sunday night Poop Patrol, it is really nice out now about 80F with a light breeze. Pool later.  Have a great week, Pray that rehab goes well.
